Someone I know at work has been saying they've got a bass guitar stuck in their daughters bedroom. She's left home and they wanted to get rid.
I said (obviously), "I'll take it offa yer hands", thinking that even if it was crap I could salvage some bits and upgrade the rest. Possibly defret it so I could get into another style.
So now I've got it, a Moridaira (anyone?), but there are problems.
It's a Gibson SG shaped body made up of 14 ply's, so it's a pretty budget bass. I figured then that I would route a new solid body out of ash with a flame maple top (I know a cool wood suppliers), keeping the one piece neck, whack some cool pickups in and be away. Da daaaa.....
....or not. The problem of the bridge now arises. The one on it really, REALLY sucks. It has one static saddle under all 4 strings, so any precise intonation adjustments would be out of the question. It's also big and incredibly UGLY.
"Easy" I hear you say, "replace the bridge". If only it were that simple.
The neck is the thinnest I have ever seen. At the head end it is just under 2 inches wide and at the body end it is....just under 2 inches wide. Parallel all the way down.
My problem is that I just can't find a replacement bridge wth string spacing this narrow - around 16mm between each string at the bridge saddle itself.
Can NE1 help me locate one PLEEEEEEEAAAASE!
I will be eternally grateful. I found one lead in that ARIA made a bass with string spacing this narrow but I couldn't find the bridge to buy.
Surely there's a Bass Bod out there who knows about bridges???!!!! _________________ Slap me silly! |

| Afraid I've never even seen such a bass! Maybe find a cheap electric guitar bridge and hack off the upper two hammers. File the edges all nice. That kinda deal. |

I could use a five string bridge and leave one saddle vacant, but while either of these approaches would work they would still look untidy and a bit rubbish. This is doing my head in! _________________ Slap me silly! |

You might want to just send the measurements and all to a good guitar parts dealer like Warmoth for example, and let them find the right parts for you.
They'll do that for you and it'll sure save you a lot of stress trying to find the parts yourself, ok?
There are plenty of guitar and bass parts suppliers online besides Warmoth so try the search engine routine? |

That's cool. My BTB has the independent mounts, and it rocks. Talk about individual string tonation/vibration control!!! It gets no better than independent mountings! _________________ Alright!
