Ok. I have a 1993 Peavey TL-Six, six string bass. The body is in very good condition. However, the electronics have some problems. Do I put an aftermarket electronics kit in the guitar or try to find an original peavey electronics kit? How about some better pickups, or are the stock ones good? I would imagine this bass has good stuff, it listed for over $2000. Although, it also has a solid maple body and gold plated everything...so that could raise the price too.
Or, lastly, do I just sell the guitar for a rediculous low price, around $650-$750 (because it ain't worth much more) and go buy another guitar? Preferrably a 4 or 5 string.
What do you all think?
I guy recommended that I sell the TL-SIX and try and find a Tibias (<-- did I even spell that right?) Killer B series? How hard and expensive are those to find? |

| It depends on how attached you are to the critter. If it really is a $2k bass, you can bet the pickups were good. If you're ever looking to sell it later you might go for all original parts. If it were me I'd just get it fixed. If you really want a tobias (sp) bass, go for it but they can run into the thousands though. |

Well, I am not sure of the exact list of my guitar, but the same TL-Six (except in transparent purple, where as mine is transparent red), listed for $3200.
So, I would imagine the pickups are good, so where do I get the electronics to match this TL-SIX? I know mine are no good. My guitar frequently cuts off treble...maybe a short in the circuit, or a loose wire? However, if it is something more major, a new wiring kit would be a must.
They run about $200 with labor. |
