I'm not fond of the Backline series of GK, and it's their cheapest line of amps.
I wouldn't invest in lesser quality equipment if I were you, so I would suggest that you get something else, but that's just my opinion of course.
It's just a 125 watt amphead and that's not much power for a stack, and there are plenty of bass combos that will blow that one away for the same price or even less, and they would be a better investment.
Carvin has a 160 watt combo for $399.

Peavey's Combo 115 hass 200 watts, and you can add another 210 to it later and then it will push 300 watts, and it's $550.

Ther are plenty of others for the same price or less as you'll pay for that Backline GK.
If you want to keep up well with a drummer then you really need an amp with at least 300-400 watts of power, ok?
For a a couple hundred more you can get much more of course, such as Hartke's new 350 watt/410 combo for $700, but if you want a good stack with ample power then it'll take saving up a bit more money because they run around $1000, but it would be well worth waiting for.

ya those are nice combos but i want a larger cab (4x10 at least) that's why i didn't want a combo because i want somehting big. something i can gig with. i have gotten numerous bands asking or a bassist but it's B.Y.O.G. and i only have a practice amp.

that GK looks kool as hell too but that is my last priority

You can find GK 400RB's on ebay in the $200 range all the time and $340 + shipping will get you a new Avatar 4x10 cab. I'd go that route. I'm not too hot on GK Backline, but I'd much prefer it over Carvin.

"hmm, well its a 1200 watt amp at 350$, seems a little suspicious to me"

That's from another thread, but whatever.

You don't need a head with an equivelant amount of watts... it doesn't really matter.
