Just thought I'd let you know there's a review in the new issue of Bass Player (the one with Victor Wooten's face on the cover). It's for the Epiphone Elitist EB-3. The Elitist series is Epiphone's finest offering.... the guitars and basses in this series often are compared to Gibsons in quality, playability and sound. It look like a sweet instrument and they definitely praise it. Just thought I'd let you know. Cool

Has anyone played the regluar Epiphone EB-3 (Not the Elite model), is it any good? Is the heavy neck really distracting? Theres one down at my music store I'll probably try this weekend.

Thanks for your open-minded tolerant attitude. I've gotten more compliments about my Epiphone Les Paul Standard than I can count.... it's one of the best guitars I've played and ABSOLUTELY the best guitar I've found for under a grand.

I'm not even going to argue, though. You're right.... Epiphone CLEARLY sucks. Rolling Eyes

No I didn't say they suck. I played and have owned an Epiphone Custom Les Paul and I thought it was great for 400$, but what I am saying is why settle with the good or ok stuff when you could have the best stuff i.e. Gibson.

Because Gibsons cost too much. And Epiphone Elitist series is nearly Gibson-perfect..... so why not save yourself a few hundred?

There's no point in being pretentious....

Well, I would wrather spend the extra money to have a Gibson. Thats just me. For me I don't see a point in having mid-grade stuff.

But why? I just don't see the logic in that. You could have something nearly identical in every way for hundreds less..... what good is the name on the headstock? I'm not saying don't be choosy, I'm just saying there's no rational reason for being a snob.

Well, I am a collector. It is my hobby. I look for the highest quality stuff. It is just my preference.

Personally, Im with bassman...Gibson is the true king of bassdom, & I will only own the original- the real deal, cause They will NEVER make em like that again, but If authenticity isnt an issue, I heard that the elitist basses are pretty true to the original. Each to their own, but nothing beats an original EB.

man, epiphone is the equivelant of Gibson that Squire is of fender, and besides, they don't really look that sh!itty, if people really really wanna *Motherless Goat* about how bad they are, then those people can probably just slap in some nicer pickups. personally with me, i don't give a dam

dude, you have some twisted views. Have you ever played an epiphone? Its like apples & oranges compared to a vintage Gibson. The Epi EB-0 is nothing close to the sound of an original, they use god-knows-what wood for the body, the necks are bolt on instead of set, the pickup has nowhere near the output of the original & the hardware is wayyy cheaper than the original. & im not gunna even begin on the differences between squier & fender. Epi`s arent bad basses(some of em) but they are nowhere NEAR the quality of a handmade vintage Gibson. same with Squier & Fender. Epiphone & Squier are the budget instruments of their parent company that means cheaper. cheaper means not as well built. *Golly Gee*!!
