Where are the Ibanez owners?

How come there is so little talk about banez basses here anyway? I know I love my Ibanez SR300, cant beat the playability of the Ibanez neck thats for sure. I plan on getting another Ibanez in the future, maybe the new SRX700, looks awesome

I share your loneliness, Cthulu; both here in the forum and over here in Darwin. I had to get my bass flown in from Sydney (BTB 406QM) because none of the local music stores carried anything even close. I have found that Ibanez is a 'quiet achiever' brand, anyway. I know my equipment is reliable, reputable, and versatile. That's all that really matters. When you plug it in, it matters not. Whether it is a Fender, Yamaha, Ibanez or Vester (though I don't want to have to play a Vester too often), the point is that you're happy with your gear.
What do you think of the Ibanez for slap???

Neil, good to hear another Ibanez owner actually looks at this forum! Sounds like they are harder to get in your area than mine! As far as slap, I have really just recently started using slap technique and it seems to work ok for my crude technique! I think the necks on these things are just great, way nicer than most other bass modeals I have tried, and for the money my Ibanez is a great bass. I play mostly metal and early 80s punk so this bass really fits the bill.

yep, I'm new to bass and this site. I play an Ibanez, but it's no RS or BTB (it's a GSR200). But since I'm a newbie, it will do for now. I think it sounds great! If only I could hit the right frets, it would sound much better!

I've found that Ibanez are really good for slap as well as for rock. The guy I bought my Iby from played in a Slipknot cover band and with a quick set up I changed it to a great southern rock, walking bass in just a few quick minutes I was really impressed with the wide range of tones I could get from mine (a soundgear 405). Though I later changed to a Schecter J5 because my Iby just couldn't produce the nice fat fender tones that I needed on a regular basis, I still miss the hard edgy tones I could get from my Iby.

Yeah, I have been looking at some Schecters lately myself, I never really thought about them until I picked them up and tried them and *Holy Censor, Batman* if they are not nice! When I get my next bass I think it will be a toss up between a Schecter or an Ibanez Srx700.

I'm not new to being in a band, but definitely new to being a bass player and owning bass equipment. I had a choice between a Schecter Elite, Schecter Deluxe, or an Ibanez SRX400. And after playing all of them, the Schecter Elite was definitely not what I was looking for. It was really between the Schecter Deluxe and the Ibanez. The Schecter had that ultra-heavy, CRAZY rock tone, but in the end, I was so muc more comfortable with the SRX400. It was lighter in weight, had a more versatile tone (from active heavy to clean goodness), and honestly, more simple to operate. Don't get me wrong, the Schecter was awesome too, great quality of build, better bolt-on properties, nice enough looks, but really, was a bit more complicated then I was looking for (EQ on the bass and such). The Ibanez was just straight ahead simplicity that I needed to get rockin'. Plus the thin neck is great for me. The looks I didn't really dig AT FIRST while at the store and chose it out simply because of sound, but slowly and now FOR SURE, I LOVE the look on it.

After owning it for about a month now, I'm very much lovin' it. Easy to play, easy to adjust sound on stage, goes into my Ampeg B5 head and comes out of my Avatar B410 cab AWESOMELY. I can get clean tone all the way to overdriven, distortioned madness! I play mostly rock/alt-rock/punk-ish type stuff (sorta Weezer/GreenDay/etc). The setting I usually go for is a slightly overdriven, warm, SVT type sound. And I certainly do get it from my humble, not-too-pricey setup.

All in all, a PROUD Ibanez owner!

I've owned my SR400 for little over 5 years, actually it was my only bass until a couple of years ago. The 3 band - active EQ can change the tone from bassy mud to punchy mids to screamin' highs and everything in between. The Ibanez necks are very thin, which is good for me because I don't have big hands (long flexible fingers, since I've been playing for over twenty years).
Bought a SR405 a couple of years ago, it was a deal I just couldn't pass up. The SR405 and hardshell case for $350.00. It has the same active EQ and sounds great.
Two weeks ago... bought a SR500. This is straight-up an awesome bass!!! It has 2 Bartolini pickups and a Bartolini active EQ. The tone of this bass in incredible. I even sound good finger-style..lol.
I will also mention, I have two Rickenbacker basses. Which may explain why I'm a pick-player. I don't remove the treble pick-up covers.

I'll close with saying..... I have no complaints about my Ibanez's, they're great basses in my opinion.

I have the blue GSR200, and for a low budget bass, I am extremely happy with it. I love the tones it puts out, and in comparison to the Yamaha or the P-Bass, IMO, it won hands down, hah.

I am looking at upgrading sometime to the EDB600 in white. I played on one at the Guitar Center here in Tucson, and man it is smooth. I think I am hooked on the Ibanez Cool

I just got a SR1010. I'm new to bass and this is my second axe. My first was a Yamaha RBX360. This Ibanez definately has a nicer neck and seems better balanced.

I just put some Elixer's on my bass and tweaked the setup as good as I could get it for my playing style. I'm sure it will change as I "mature".

I love the feel of the SR1010. On top of that, it is a gorgeous bass (not bragging, just stating the truth). Beautiful deep brown grain with 5-piece neck.

The only thing that I've notices about it that I can't seem to figure out (no owner's manual) is how the sweeping mid-range is supposed to work. That and not being able to get a high shine on the frets.

But this definately seems like a bass I can grow with and doubt I will be "upgrading" any time soon.

PS - tried the Fenders and didn't care for the looks or the playability.

another GSR200 owner here. its very nice for the money. an excellent 1st bass for sure. i'm going to upgrade into a BTB soon. i've played a fender 5 string, and the Ibanez feels so much more tight and solid to me.
