Anybody played with one of 'em? How'd you like 'em?

I'm not to fond of the Backline series as it's GK's lowest quality line of amps and speakers, and I think using an amp modeling pedal like a V-Amp or a Bass POD is a better investment than buying an amp with built in modeling effects.
The problem that I have with amps that have the effects built in is that they can't be used separate from the amp they're built into, and if the amp were to fail, then you'd lose the ability to use the effects with another amp while that one is in the shop for repairs, or worse yet is totally fried beyond repair, which I know is a rare occurance, but it is a possibility, and I don't like to push my luck. Wink
Also, there are times when it would be more useful to have a Bass POD or V-Amp etc. to take into the studio when you'd usually just run direct to the mixing board for recording.
I think you should just invest in a really good bass amp rig, that will keep you satisfied for many years, and then buy the specific individual high quality effects that you really need.
You can always get a low cost Zoom multi effects pedal, or something like that for messing around with at home just for fun, because most bassists use very few effects in a live performance situation.

Like what? I only got about 1250, for an amp and a bass.

I would suggest getting yourself a good bass amp rig with the money you have now, and then you can start saving up for a new bass later on.
A new bass rig will do wonders for the sound of your Squier.
I know you want to get both a new amp and a new bass right now, but buying higher quality gear one thing at a time is a better investment of your hard earned money in the long run.
You can make a couple of low cost upgrades to your Squier for now(pickups/bridge for example) to improve it a bit, and hopefully you won't mind using it for awhile longer until you can afford the new bass you really want, and it'll be worth the wait.

I'm only 13. If I spend that much money now it will take me like 3 years to earn enough for a new bass...

Sorry, I had no idea you were still so young Rufio!

lol bass, but yea hes right. a new bass will sound better and stuff, but a good rig will make ur squier sound like a rick. my suggestion is to get a decent head, and either a 410 or 115 cab. try to get it used if u can, you dont wanna blow ur money on a rig that u might think sucks and then get stuck with it. goto music stores and try stuff out to see what you like and what fits ur playing style.
