| I've been looking around for my next bass guitar. I am looking for a five-string, 24-fret, active buckers, with the small string spacing(my hands are small for a bass player, and I don't do much slapping). Not sure what to consider. Suggestions needed! |

| Hey big guy, right off the bat I have to say Soundgear or MusicMan.They both have slim necks (which I love) and the 5 string models are just a bit wider than the four string. Check them out! Enjoy.................Dr. |

| I played a five-string Stingray before. It was okay, I wasn't that impressed though, I was getting some fret buzz, and the action wasn't even that low....I played a 4-string ESP bass with active humbuckers, and I loved the way it sounded compared to the Stingray. |

| Most likely the stingray needed a setup. Any guitar you play off the wall, probably needs a setup. The buzz was from that or the fact that it had new strings. The ESP's are ok. A friend of mine has the top of the line, and I found it to be ok.The neck is thicker than the MusicMan five string. Its weird because I felt the Stingray sounded much better.Well to each his own.You know how that is .Good Luck! Dr. |

| An active pick up is preamped. It has a battery ,and the pick up is hum canciling. It is also noisless, .With active electronics you get the full spectrum of sound and the capacity to make what ever sound you want They are great for molding and very effect friendly. In other words, they inhance the sound quality |

I must agree with Dr. Sounds. Ibanez Soungear basses are realy nice.
Active pickups, 24 frets, slim neck and very comfortable for a small hand like mine.
What first impressed me about that bass was those pickups, they sound *Holy Censor, Batman* GOOD.
I wish I never sold it. |

| Thanks for the advice guys, I'll be looking around in the future and I'll keep your words in mind. Whenever I get my next bass(won't be for a long time, though) I'll post. I'm actually saving up for an amp now, but I've basically broken my choices down already. I was thinking a Hartke, a Gallien-Kruegger or a Carvin. I wouldn't mind your opinions of those either. |

DrSounds can answer that one. If you ask me, I'd go with Galien Krueger if you have the money.
There heads are very ballzy sounding (sounds great with a SoundGear).
I think the speakers are Celestions or Electrovoice. In either case, they are both GREAT. |

| Cole.I am in love with the new GK backline amps. The main reason, 2 footswitchable channels. One clean and one distortion. Its a beautiful thing! If that does not float your boat, well, know this.GK's are the best amps since Ampeg. They are great sounding like Ampeg tubes and the are built heavy duty like SVT's.If you want to spend money though, the Ampeg Bsr5 is also a great head.Again 2 channels and you can blend the clean and dirty together. Then you have to buy a cabinet and that can run into bucks.I have a GK guitar amp with 100 watts. You have to hear this thing.
