lol, the only reason i like Gibson basses is the look of the thunderbird with natural finish and the pearl white pickguard, it's just awesome. sure i'd probably have to do a little modding to make it more cool SOUNDING, but it'd be awesome even then

I tried one of these out recently and it was definitely good at giving off that "vintage" vibe, but almost too much so. For starters, it's UGLY. I would choose anything Fender has produced over this bass as far as looks go. Secondly, it's not half as versatile as a P/J style bass.... or anything with modern electronics, for that matter. Any thoughts?

I've tried one out--you're talking about the one that looks something like the old '51 P-bass? The neck is nothing like a real vintage P-bass. Much nicer neck.

Overall, I liked this bass. It feels good and it had a good sound. While it's not on my list of must-have basses, it is certainly not out of the question that I might buy one. Personally, I liked it.

I tried one at Guitar Center recently. I liked the look but was dissappointed in the sound. Not enough versatiliy and not enough edge for me. Much prefer a p/j or jazz....
