I don't know how the other members feel, but I don't think the Mesa/Boogie is neccesary, maybe an SWR could replace it, or possibly nothing at all. I just think that it might not get very many posts.

I think this board is in danger of too many places to post.

Not necessarily. "Bass" is a really broad topic, so it only makes sense that there are smaller, sub-topics to choose from. None of these forums will garner as much attention as "Jaco's" but who cares? As long as there are a few people interested in each one, that alone makes it worthwhile, I think.

I used to feel the way you do, but after seeing these different forums, I changed my mind. It's so much easier this way! If there was one giant, all-encompassing forum for everything, you would have to wade through tons of crap you dont care about to get to the topics you want. This puts everything in it's place.... it makes the site easier to navigate and it makes it easier to find stuff you actually give a crap about.

It's kind of like organizing mp3 files in your computer. Rather than have one folder containing ALL 5,000 of them, wouldn't it be quicker to divide them into smaller folders? I think so.

What?!? That makes no sense whatsoever. Read my above post. The sub-topics are logical and convenient. No offense to kant, but that's a really dumb reason to quit. YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THE SUB-TOPIC FORUMS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO. lol... they're not hurting anything. Just making it easier to find the stuff you want.

Why Too Many Forums Suck -

I think that many people forget that not everyone has high speed internet. That's my first beef, because I dont know if any one else knows this, but clicking back and then clicking the link and then clicking back, and clicking the link to go back to the main forums page loads slow as hell. Secondly, there is no need for a huge amount of sub-forums because you can Name your topics. Now, I think that having maybe a Gibson and Fender forum is a good idea, because they not only have a ton of history, but they're artistic. But, when you break it down into Ibanez, Rickenbacker, etc, then its just becoming overwhelming. I dont know about how everyone else sees it, but if theres a post, i want to read it. And when there's 40 places to go look, and the majority of the posts are, "What do you think about Rickenbacker?" Or BS like that. As opposed to going into the "Guitar Forum" and reading, the topic name and just skipping it. Just try dialing up and going through this page, and everyone will see what i mean. Peace.

I haven't had a 56K modem in years. I use high-speed cable connection and I'm fine. But I do feel your pain.... slow-speed sucks.

My point - if you have a slow connection and clicking on several pages in a pain, then don't go to forums you're not interested in. You can still visit the forums you like and don't visit the forums you don't. You don't need to go to every one. If you think Ric or Ibanez is worthless, just don't bother with them. You don't have to quit the boards entirely. You can still go to Jaco's or something.

I also think it will draw newer people in and make it easier for the newbs as well. Think about it, you just got a bass you have a question about said bass and have no idea where to put it. If you have ONE GIANT all-consuming forum for everything, you can post it there but it will probably get buried under a ton of junk. If you post it in Fender, I can read it and get back to you right away. If you post it in Gibson, Gibby can read it and get back to you right away. You know instantly where to post and you don't have to post anywhere you don't want to.

Topics get buried less often this way, too. If I start in thread in Jaco's it'll be gone and forgetten in a week or so. Some forums (not on this site, but I've seen them) bury threads faster than that. Like... in a day or so. It sucks. Let threads be where they belong. It just makes everything organized and easier to keep track of.

kant - Don't leave. Sad We want you here.
