I've heard some good things about the M-Pulse 600, but I don't think this forum will be very popular. We should have an SWR forum before a Mess/Boogie. I will have to comment in Suggestion Box.

The M-pulse 600 is NOT 600 watts of tube power! It is known as Tube Driven MossFet power. This amp operates similar to the Ampeg SVT 3 Pro. There are tubes in the unit called Driver tubes and these tubes give the mosfet a little more muscle to play with. Watch out though, this amp can give out power peaks up to 2000 watts! I was amazed myself, but I studied the manual. I decided that when I need a big rig I would go for the SVT Clasic 300 watts of pure tube and put it through a 810E. Also, The Mesa 400+ is not technically louder or better than the SVT. The 400+ has a really clean tubey sound channel and a overdriven channel. The overdrive channel sounded like the Tech 21 Bass DI's overdrive sound (no kidding there!). I found the SVT to have much more punch, and in your face low end than the 400+. If you play rock get the Ampeg and forget about the 400+. Lastly, The SVT CL and the 810 E can get any sound between 40hz-5khz up to 130 decibels. The 400+? Mesa does not even have a comprehensive manual for this amp. They don't even go into detail about their speakers. Ampeg does because they have a reason to boast about it. Few compnaies can even get near Ampeg's stage volume for their speakers! Finally, what is the Sensitivity and max SPL of any of Mesa's bass cabs? They DO NOT TELL YOU! Ampeg tells you everything about there products. Mesa does not, wonder why? Maybe because mesa themselves know the specifications of their products are garbage and don't even compare to Ampeg......

Yeah, Mesa's usually are pretty complicated especially amps like the Mark 4. They also have their user friendly stuff like the Mark 1, 2, and 3's though.

I have a mesa Road Ready Powerhouse cab with 4x10"/1x15" and I will tell you that they are far from garbage and I was trying ever combination of amp/speaker out there before dropping $1550 on my cab. Maybe the reason they don't go ino specs isn't so much that Ampeg is better, it may be because they are propietary about their specs and don't want other companies to take from their ideas. This cab is awesome and although I like Ampeg as they were the second choice, that is all they will ever be now that i have used Mesa. I run an SWR 750x head and it can still take 200 more watts without a problem but unless I get the big gig we all dream about, there isn't a reason for it. By the way, hated the use of Mesa heads to power it and the reason I chose SWR is becuase it was the ONLY head that allowed me to play fast and get the articulation I was looking for while all others got muddied up. SWR is a great head tht also give me the balls I need in the upper range (I play 7 string basses) while others get twangy on the 6th and 7th strings and sound weak......
Here is a picture of it.

I did noit much care for mine I loved the bragging rights but I like other amps more. They are made good and strong and they do sound good, I just do not like the controls I like a very simple eq I like very simple knobs blah blah.
