Eh, that's MSRP. The actual price will be closer to $1K. _________________ z_bassman <>< |

I tried one of these at a Carvin showroom last year, I was less than amused. The compressor is an abomination. The only way to get a good sound out of it was to switch it off. It has a built-in noise gate whiche is good, because it needs it. The amp I played was pretty noisey. The built-in crossover only goes down to 200hz (who thought this was a good idea?) which is much too high for my tastes. Carvin advertises 1000 watts fot the R1000 head, but there's no way to get 1000 watts out of the rig because the 410 cab it comes with is 8ohms. The 1x18 cab is 4oms, which brings up another issue...the cabs are mismatched.
I have since met 3 bassists who have had trouble with the R1000 head going into thermal shutdown when pushed hard and bridged into 4ohms. Carvin says the head is rated down to 2ohms stereo, I wouldn't bet the ranch on it. |
