I have had the SR885 for around 4 years now. I paid around $1000 Canadian for it. I also love how it plays.

The BTB405qm I have had for around 5 months. I love this bass. It is quite different to play than the SR885. The string spacing is much greater. I like having the strings spacineg larger because I have quite large hands.

My band is recording our album right now and I am exclusively using the BTB for the recording. I do believe that after recording the SR885 with be the bass I will use live.

As for problems on the SR885 I have had to replace the pickup selector pot. It went out on me about a year after owning the bass.

As for the BTB i have already had to change the output jack after 6 months. It came with a neutrik jack and I was under the impressions they were pretty decent. Hopefully the replacement lasts longer.

I am new here, and I play a btb405, and I LOVE this bass! I played a fenderj, an epipone, and so on.. and this bass is great. No complaints here. It has a great action, good tone, and versatile.

I look forward to getting aquainted!

Hey BTBMS and other Ibanez users.
I kinda thought that this forum was for those people with scanners and digital cameras, which kinda ruled me out. But, if you can invisage the BTB405QM posted earlier in the six string version and a transparent red colour, then you've got my bass up there too.
Coolest, most versatile bass I've ever owned. It's the first bass that I am not constantly looking to upgrade or compensate with other basses. I do own a J & D Luthiers custom 4 string, and use it for slap in some of the more basic numbers we do (usually covers), but for the originals and impro's, the BTB is my weapon of choice.

I can picture that and it sounds pretty sweet.

Mine: GSR200, does the job but kinda lacks. The J-pickup hums, and the sound is thin and tinny. The p-pickup sounds warm and punchy, right in the midbass: right where it should be. But it still lacks soul even using the p-pickup, you just can't quite connect, and it might be holding me back a bit (hard to get motivated to play a mediocre bass).

Well, I was going to do a photo of just my bass, but GodofRapture beat me to it. I've got the 405QM, too. Hope you relish it as much as I do, GodofRapture. Cool

That was taken on a balmy summer evening outdoor gig, in Pittsburg, KS. September 18, 2003, I think.

Here's the one I play. I love it, but that slide-in battery design is horrible and is constantly giving me problems with rattle, and sometimes intermittant contact with the poles of the battery which creates that gawd awful 'poping' sound.

The optimal playing weather is 100% humidity and 85 degrees.

And that's too bad about the battery trouble, it looks like a solid axe otherwise. Love the bridge, my next bass will be independant like that!

I have to give you both credit, you have fine choices in basses. I love the see through wood look. And I can imagine you're happy!

I'm new here, and it's only the second bass I've ever owned, but I love the SR400 I've got. Very versatile tone and control, and that thin neck is great.

That seems to fit you somehow, GreenEnvy. Ibanez basses kick some serious butt, don't they!? And it's a five, too!!! Awright, give me...well, you know. Good find!
