I've wanted to try one of these for a long time, but I haven't been lucky enough to stumble upon one. I prefer passive pickups over actives, but it still looks like a really interesting bass.

Before his Modulus came out, Flea sometimes used this bass. I think it's Fender's real 100% rock bass, wheras the Jazz and Precision are only somewhere around 30-50% rock playing ability. I've tried a couple and their pretty good.

Jazz and Precision are great for rock.... actives might be more suited to metal or industrial, but rock was INVENTED by dudes with Ps. Cool

I guess it was about 50/50 fender/gibson....or 20/80... Very Happy

Back to the topic at hand - the user reviews on harmony-central are really good. If I were in the market for a nice active-pickup modern-style bass, I would definitely check it out.
