What do you guys think of ampegs new "Bass Amp" series? Check out www.ampeg.com if you don't know what I'm talking about. Has anyone played one of these. I was considering going to Bass Northwest and trying out the BA-112, I need a new practice amp anyway.

I was thinking about buying one just for the hell of it. I can't say I'm to crazy about the solid state b.s. but they don't sound too bad.

I have the BA115 and it is great. It's big enough for small gigs and can plug directly into the house system. Great amps.

I was thinking about getting the BA-115, but the BA-112 got better reviews at Harmony Central and I really only need a practice amp. I've also heard good things about Ashdown's new practice amps (After Eight, Perfect Ten, Five Fifteen, check out their website, to see what I mean). Has anyone tried these yet?

Here is a good amp that I am thinking about getting...It is a 1970's B-15n. It is an EXCELLENT sounding amp. It has 2 6L6 tubes with 50 watts of power through a 1x15. Very fine bass amp

I just picked up a BA-210SP. Great sounding! The effects are a nice touch too. For a 2x10, it puts out some good sound.

I'm wondering though if there is a better choice for the money? Maybe for a little bit more money even? I play rock/alt-rock and I'm rethinking about exchanging the BA-210SP for something better. Any ideas? Would appreciate it... Smile

After messing with the BA-210SP for a few weeks, I have realized that yes, it is indeed a practice amp...well, at least for me and my loud @$$ band. In my opinion, this combo is definitely good for less louder bands and musical genres, and also for small bars/clubs. Not that it definitely won't work, but at least in a rock-type band, this combo was not cutting it in the volume department. Just to keep up with everyone in our rehearsal studio, I had to have it cranked 3/4 of the way, with my active guitar in the passive input! Now that is stretching it...

But the tones and sound? That is where I believe it comes into greatness. Yes, it isn't those vintage amps and such, but they do sound good in their own right. My favorite is the SVT effect. Wonderful warmth. With my active setting on 1/2way, it was pure goodness.

So yeah, for me, GREAT (but pricey) practice amp, but would definitely fall short at shows. PLUS, the expandability is definitely not an option, which further makes it a practice amp, OR an amp for less louder genres or very small shows. Word. (up?)

ha.

I also have the BA-210SP. Sounds amazing. I'm not in a band at the moment, so I'm not really interested in getting crazy-volume, but it can get pretty loud. However, I can't say enough about the sound quality. Spectacular.

Once I get my Warwark Corvette, I'll be a happy man......

I use my BA115 to push the highs in my biamp setup. It also gives me the capability to use a smaller amp for practice.
