| I love EBs when I jazz and fusion but I also use Thoms flats when I play blues. |

| what do you guys think of d'addario?? I haven't really settled on a particular brand name...nothing so far has really caught my fancy...just want something bright, reasonably priced and durable.....I just bought a set of d'addario but haven't open the pack yet if you think there is something better out there.... |

Personally, I've used D'addarios on my guitar and I like them, but find them to be a bit TOO bright. The quality and value is definitely there, but I happen to like Ernie Balls a bit more. If brightness is what you're looking for, give D'addarios a shot. And definitely give them a shot if you've already bought them. The only way to find the perfect string is to keep looking.
Although I still love my Ernie Balls, I've taken a liking recently to Dean Markley strings. I might make the change permanently, but I'm not sure. |

I only play Ernie Ball Power Slinkies (.055-.110) on my Fender Jazzbass and there's no other option for me on strings. They have Fat Tone, last nog enough (about 5-6 gigs) and aren't that expensive at all.
Also for guitar: Power Slinkies are the Best!
Viva Ernie Ball. _________________ www.nubluz.com

Interesting stuff.
I got my first bass as an Xmas present last year, & the coating on the Elixirs is coming off of the B string, so I've started looking for opinions.
Never used Ernie Balls on my guitars, used GHS Boomers for years. Just recently switched to DR High Beams & was really impressed with the sound improvement, & was planning on going to them for the bass.
I'm getting ready to go back to Boomers on one of the guitars, tho...going to try the Zakk Wylde set for the .060 & .052 low end. _________________ -Curt |

GHS, DRs, Ken Smiths on my basses
GHS, Dean Markleys on my electric guitars
Martins on my acoustics
About EBs... The D string pulled apart on me after about a week. So I don't like EB bass strings. I wouldn't mind trying out those real thick EBs that John Petrucci uses for my guitar one day. |

I would be going straight back to the store. No string should only last ten minutes, even if you're towing a trailer with it.
I reckon you've got a right to demand a replacement. _________________ Alright!
