I forgot to say that I don't have much money, so I'm going for the best bang for the buck, preferably under $120. I saw a Johson 30W 8" bass amp for $89.50--wondering if that is a decent deal...

I wasnt too impressed with Johnsons bass amps or basses...their acoustic guitars arent too bad, though! If you can score a used Gorilla combo or something for the same price, Id stay away from Johnson, espesially for a 5 string---that lil thing would fall apart with a low B. there is some decent used amps out there that are way better quality for the price.

actually....I own a little RMS amp! I kinda like it because it has a good sounding overdrive circuit & I slave it into my big amp... Theyre pretty rattly, but its pretty cool if you like noise like I do Laughing

Behringer? Crate? Peavey? Ibanez? Fender? That's all I can think of right now. Any other brands good for their price?

Behringer, Crate, Peavey, Fender & Gorilla all make some pretty decent amps- way better than Johnson & RMS...also Ive heard good things about the little Dan Electro "nifty" series amps...nifty 50, nifty 70 etc.

You can get a little Fender Bassman 25 those are pretty good. Also check out Ampeg and SWR, if you can afford it. Johnson's I don't think are very good, but Gorilla is ok for a practice amp. Don't forget about Carvin or Hartke, I've heard they make good combo amps. And behringer is good amp for you money (they're an imitation company).

You'd be much better off to buy a used amp and cabs, and you can find something that'll have some power. Wink
You'd be amazed at what people sell things for when they're in dire need of money for rent , for instance.(been there, done that)
Check out all of your areas pawn shops, and the newspapers and such, and check the bulletin boards at your local guitar shops, and I've even seen stuff posted at the laundrymats! Surprised
