I've got an old V4 head that's pretty cool. It must weigh about 3 megatons. Ain't no fun to haul around.

Of course Ampeg bass gear is tops. I'd love to get my hands on one of those old Scroll basses they used to make. Those are so cool looking.

My friend had on of those scroll basses about a year ago. He since traded it in towards a Marshall proxy head.

I like the SVT-AV myself. It is simple but has everything you could want in a head.

I'm not that picky on this crap. The old stuff has it's merits and so does the new stuff.

Ampeg makes great amps. Period. I've heard a lot of praise about their guitar amps from many guitarists as well. I beleive that they're guitar amps are mainly jazz amps and therefore there bass amps are more versital and have overall better quality.

SVT is definitely the best amp they ever made, it's still around after 34 years although not as good as the original and I'm talking of course about the all tube SVT, the classic is an updated all tube SVT and is a good amp but the old ones kill them in sound. The old V4's were nice sounding amps also, V4-B's (bass) VT22's, VT40's they made a lot of nice guitar amps but knew where their bread and butter lie: bass amps, starting with the old B-15N which was and still is a great amp.

b-15n's are excellent I prefer the b-18n's because it is an 18 and you can't go wrong with an 18.

gees that was a while ago....I sold the thing to a friend for $100 more that I paid for it and I also wanted a Gibson EBO and I used the money from the ampeg to pay for the EBO. Plus at the time at plenty of bass amps. I still see the thing once in a while though.

I have an old B-15N Portaflex and a new BA-115. I only practice with the portaflex, and use the other for gigging. I am in love with the Ampeg sound. I read somewhere that the B-15 portaflex is the most recorded amplifier of all time. Could someone provide a reference for this fact?
