| What's cracken folks! I am new to this board, and I am also new to the bass guitar. I have only been playing for about 2 months, and I practice atleast a good 5 hours a day. I am going to purchase the Ibanex EDA900 electric bass. I have already played it, and I loved everything about it. The look, the sound, the clarity, etc. Anyway, I was wondering who puts out a great amp for the bass guitar? I mostle play bass lines similar to that of; The Roots, Staind, Incubus, and Breaking Benjamin. I want the amp to give me a nice deep rumble but with clean clarity. I would appriciate all the opinions and advice you can give me. Thanks! |

Hi InjectedLithium!
Welcome to the bassdogs!
The first question I always have to ask when someone wants to know what kind of amp would be good for them is, how much can you afford to spend on a bass rig?
That'll give us the ability to figure out what the best amp rig would be that you could get for that amount of money, ok?
Thanks |

| I am willing to pay up to $2,000. I scrolled through the message board and found a lot of great information about Bass Amp's. Ampeg seemed to be mention the most, and a lot of Bass players I like use that particular brand. But still, any information provided will be very benifical for me. Thanks! |

Ampeg makes nice bass gear, and that would be a good investment.
I had two of the SVT tube heads with 810 cabs, and they were great.
I used a Peavey Mark IV series 400 watt solid state head with a 215 cab and a 210 cab added later for over 17 years, and it was a very reliable great sounding rig also.
My current rig is a
4 space SKB roto rackcase
Peavey Max tube/solid state bass preamp
Peavey CS800S 1200 watt stereo poweramp
2-Peavey 412TXF bass cabs
I play a Yamaha TRB6P 6 string bass.
I think that by buying a good bass preamp, and then having the choice of many poweramps to choose from, it lets you get the most watts for the lowest cost, and is less expensive then an all in one amphead, so that's why I went with the setup I use now.
A good bass preamp will last you practically forever, and poweramps are pretty low cost. |

I'm an ampeg fan. You could get an SVT-4Pro for that price, which plays great and put that with an ampeg PR-410HLF cab. Check out Ampeg's Stuff. You can also call Bass Northwest (their in Seatlle, but will ship worldwide) and tell them what you're looking at, they'll give you great advice.
What's important is to know what you're buying before you get it. I bought a G-K 1001rb at Guitar Center and it was the biggest mistake I've made with bass. |
