hi guys, i'll be getting a bass soon but dont know how to play, most of my mates can play guitars with out any music lessons or even being able to read music,it just seems to be practise. so if any 1 has any tips with starting to play bass, reading tab and just how to get some good sound out of it i'd be very grateful. any help wood b good.

Ok, it's not real hip but Mel Bay always has great beginning books to get you started. Also, try checking into lessons at your local music store.

advice... don't start - give up now. cus if your like me, then all your pricks for friends will insult you and call ur bass playing useless.

(note: i am pissed off so don't take advice seriously)
