Strings for 5-string bass

What is the difference between steel and "regular" strings? Flat or round wound? What are some good sites to get bass strings for my Dean 5-string bass? I play music such as Sublime/Phish/Led Zeppelin/Reel Big Fish and have some aspirations to play funk once I get my slap technique down.

I won't go into string differences too hard because I don't have time. I'm sure you can look it up on the net. I would go with ROUNDWOUND GHS Boomers, or some other well known brand. Roundwound is what you'll want for the type of music your playing.
