Ampeg good, Crate bad. Get an Ampeg svt cab or something. They aren't that much more expensive.

Hi Rufio,

I use an SVT with a SVT Classic 4x10 cabinet and it is amazing. I'm sure the Head you are looking at would sound great but I would suggest having a play of one somewhere(if you haven't already) just to be sure of what you are getting. Cabinet wise I would stick with a matching Ampeg just because then you would be dealing with just one company(SLM) if any warranty issues arise but that being said, I also think SWR make fine cabinets but as always if possible you should try before you buy. Internet reviews promise the world and although some equipment is tried and true you should never be convinced by what a company trying to sell you something is telling you about their equipment - lets face it, if you went by by their own reviews, amp companies 10w practice amps sound like they would rip the paint off the walls of even the biggest clubs. I've owned quite a bit of eq but I always go back to Ampeg...it's your sound, it's your choice. Good luck and have fun choosing.

Yeah 18's are great. With my gig rig I use 2 ampeg heads and direct one through the 18 and put tons of lows on it and then the other ampeg through a mesa 4x10 and put some mids and some highs on it. Next I am going to add a mesa 1x15 to the 4x10s to put lows on that. So I will have 1x18, 1x15 and 4x10. Great rig.

Id imagine that youd get plenty of bottom from a 15 & an 18... the 10`s are for mids & to even out the tone, eh bassman? espesially with an EB-0... you need the 10`s to even the sound out...gots to add some kind of definition to the thunder-mud...plus,with the EB-0 too many bottom end-cabs would beat the roof down about your neck! espesially using Ampeg tube-heads... Twisted Evil and, scorpionldr, theres no possible way to get twang out of an EB-0. its just not there! maybe growl, but no twang even if you had ALL 10`s...

Yeah the EBO has super balls. No twang just low end rumble.

haha gibby, sux for you. my p-deluxe is so good for passive i have to play it with the tone control all the way back for a little bit of growl though. lol, the jazz PU's good, but just entitles too much clack when picking at the same pace of a guitar player's picking hand

It doesn't suck to be him! Those Gibsons make that low growl sound that sounds great!

I have one of those american delux p's. They are good, but they have no where near the raw growl of an EBO. Those Fender pickups don't put out as much power as the EBOs.
