i got a fender p bass that was made in mexico with the serial number mn541145. could anyone tell me wut year that is and like wut kind of precision?

Fendertalk.com helped me identify what sounds like a similar bass, but I don't personally know anything about it.

the "n" in "mn" means "Ninety", so it's a 94. The MIM P basses are the Standard, or the Deluxe. My guess is it's a '94 Standard Precision. The Deluxe had 2 pups on it.

pups = pickups.

A precision bass has a split pickup, but it is considered only one pickup. It is mounted about halfway between the bridge and the neck.

If it has 2 pups (pickups), there will be near the bridge, and one about mid-way between the bridge and neck.

Legato, I guess I'm not understanding your question then. Pickups are also called "pups" and are the plastic things with bits of metal showing that are under the strings.

Here is a picture of a Deluxe P-Bass. Note the two different styles of pickups used.


Here is a P-Bass (not a Deluxe). Note it only has one picjup in the middle position.
