Hi,
And thanks for the fine welcome. Yes, I do get Cream on the brain from time to time. How can I not? Anyway, when I spoke to a Gibson rep and gave him my serial number, he said it was probably a 1962-62 era model.
He said that their record keeping wasn't really sharp back then. I wanted one ever since I saw Jack Bruce play it on the first Cream tour here in the U.S. I run it through a Carvin Red Eye combo ( 2 x 10 plus horn ) but bi amp it with a Bag End 18 on the bottom. It does thunder!
Take care,

I've owned four bass guitars going back to 1971. Two were Gibsos: the EB0 and the EB3. Bought both new and loved them both. One was stolen, and one was sold due to financial problems. I recently did a search to buy another early 70's Gibson, but man they have gone up in value. So now I'm playing a 40 year old Itailian made archtop which is a lot of fun. _________________ Sometimes in the middle of the night I'll play my bass and the world stands still... gotta love it! |

Hi, I am new here.
I have been a Gibson player for 28 years or so. My first bass was a Grabber. I then traded that in for an RD Artist, which I still have today. Now I own my RD Artist, a 68 non reverse T bird II, a 78 black on black Ripper, and soon I will have a project 60's EBO. Nothing shakes the earth like an EB!
My favorite is the T bird, but I love my RD, it is really heavy, but plays and sounds great. A very versitile bass. The T bird has a great neck and sound.
It's like picking a favorite child. They all have something great about each one. _________________ Barkless Dog |

welcome to Bassdogs, RD! That is one sweet collection! I play a `68 EB-0 as of now, have had EB-3`s, an EB-0F, an EB-0L - now kick myself for selling em (thats how the money goes), good to see another Gibson fan on the board. Make yourself at home, looks like you have some good info to share! _________________ --==Warum tut es weh, wenn ich pinkele?==-- |

Ah, it is good to find another RD user here Do you notice that everyone who owns an RD seem tohang on to them.
Why oh why did the good folks at Gibson give up on this venerable and slightly ahead of its time instrument ?

Yeah, just think if they would of made a lighter thinner mahogany body with updated electronics. _________________ Barkless Dog |

I have never played a t-bird studio but I don't care for the looks, it seems a little off almost like an asian copy BUT I have never seen one up close and personal and sometimes pictures just don't do an instrument justice. _________________ "I'm not a man who likes to swear, but I never cared for the sound of being alone." |

i feel it is one of the most iconic looking bass' around... quite neck heavy and where the neck is so long it is quite hard for begginers. i wanted a white one but the finish turns yellow after a while. |

thats the beauty of the white finish, you can't fake the patina of a well used and aging instrument, I think it adds character. _________________ "I'm not a man who likes to swear, but I never cared for the sound of being alone." |
