if it's /9 it means slide up if it's \9 it's slide down from wherever like 12\9 would be sliding from 12 to 9. Not really sure about r, maybe let it ring? _________________ Hey. |

The 'slide up' thing still confuses me like if a tab were like:
A---------4---6--------7---------
E------------------------------------/9----------
Where do you slide up from? |

If it doesn't have any number on it you do it from zero. Or one, cause you can't really start on zero. _________________ Hey. |

yup yup hit the nail on the head. and if the slash was the other way you would just start from the "bottom of your fretboard" (your highest fret)
