What do you think is the minimum amount of watts needed to play with a drummer?

Depends on if it's a combo, if it's a tube amp, what kind of cab you're using, how loud your drummer plays, what kind of music, etc. You'll need to submit a few more details.

I have a Trace Elliot 300 watt 15" combo, & I wish it were louder...but for clean sounding basses it rawks...

If you can afford it, the SWR workingman's series will give you the most bang for your buck. Their 15", 160 watt combo should do the job and you can get one new for like $600 I believe. If you're strapped for cash, the SWR LA series offers a little less power but still great sound. Don't be fooled by some of the cheaper Fender amps out there... they may look bigger but often carry the same wattage and their preamps can't touch SWR. If you absolutely need the cheapest noise-making amp possible I'd check out Behringer who has some dirt-cheap combos and rigs that seem to get the job done for people on a real tight budget.

I saw a Mesa Boogie bass combo in my catalog. I fogot exactally what it was. I think it was a combo version of the Mpulse 600. It is 600 watt 1x15 combo. It looked pretty nice if combos are your thing.

well, let me help you out, if you get 200 watts at eight ohms you can drown out everyone in sight. if you get 65 watts at eight ohms its enough to play with a band. lol, then again, it's more, it can overpower my buddie's 75 watt crate amp, and i push it at the most to 7 when i play
