Hello,
I can get an apparently unused, Fender American Jazz Plus, or a Geddy Lee Jazz, for the same price. The Jazz Plus was apparently a bit of a flop, I'm not sure why (please enlighten me if anyone knows). It was made in the early 90's and featured a smaller body, no pickguard, Lace Sensor Pickups, and a Kubicki preamp. I played one and I thought it was cool, but I'm a guitarest so I dont fully understand basses yet. Whatever I get will be my first bass. I'm primarily concerned with using it in a studio environment at this point so usability in a mix is paramount. I can't find anywhere who carries the Geddy so I can't try it out, but I've heard its great. The main concern with the Jazz Plus is that it flopped; the main concern with the Geddy is that I'm told that single-coil pickups create a 60hz hum sound that could hurt in a studio environment (is there a way to eliminiate this in general btw?).
My question is, which one is better? And why was the Jazz Plus a flop? Is it because it sucked, or was it because it wasn't "traditional" or whatever? Which would you guys get in my situation? |

I dont know much personally about these basses, but Ive heard that the geddy lee bass is a nice axe! badass II bridge & stuff but the pickups are vintage jazz pups-kinda quiet but good for recording......If you want a louder bass, get the us jazz...theres a guy on here that seems quite knowledgeable on jazz basses- stevejazz is his handle... _________________ --==Warum tut es weh, wenn ich pinkele?==-- |
