Try to play the stuff you know on guitar, only play the bass lines. You have to learn to listen to music a little differently. It's fun to pick out the bass lines. Try that. Just jam on stuff you already know and move on. Learn your scales, you gotta know some scales and how to move around that fretboard melodically. Good luck.
