Need a bass guitar and it's gonna be a Fender. Would like to hear about the contrast between the Precision & Jazz. I play Adult Contemporary/Rock/Blues. I don't play too hard, and want to be able to blend well with a band. What say ye?

There not a HUGE difference in the two. Here's the specs as I know them

Standard P - fatter, rounder neck. Single offset humbucker pickup, volume and tone controls. very simple, very comfortable, classic tone.

Standard J - thinner, tapered neck - may be easier to play for smaller hands, two single coil pickups, body is sort of a "warped" version of the P.

Essentially they are both excellent basses. It's more a matter of personal taste. You have to go play one or two of each and get a feel for them. You may get a little more tonal range out of the Jazz because of it's two pickups, but again, they are both great instruments. Happy shopping!
