What's up everybody I'm new to the site!
I was wondering how you guys felt about purchasing digital downloads. I'm interning at Universal Music and I was just wondering what would it take for people to purchase legitimate downloads instead of getting free music by file sharing. Like right now we're promoting our jazz artists that'll be performing over the summer. If you go to our site, which I’ll post with you guys permission, you can purchase downloads from a number of artists including Roy Hargrove, Diana Krall, Richard Elliott, Mindi Abair, David Sanborn, John Scofield, Lizz Wright, and more. UMG is also offering a contest to win a number of prizes like a signed Jesse Harris poster, a signed John Scofield poster or a signed Mindi Abair poster! Would this be enough for you to purchase a download?
Your feedback is very much needed and appreciated. Thanks for your time! |

I wouldn't download anything if CD's went back to a normal price. 18-20 dollars for a CD!!!! Thats ridiculous! If they went to a normal price like 10 bucks, then I would buy everything, and wouldn't even want to download music. Other then that, I would never pay to download music, not when its free, and not when i feel like the music companies could give a crap about what I want to hear or pay. They just want to fatten their pockets... shoot, back before MTV and the 70s, music was pretty much free! And it still should be! _________________ Check out my magazine, www.AlternateLexicon.com. I agree...If AOL can send out millions of cd`s for free, obviously it doesnt cost too much to make em... They could definitly afford to drop prices a little bit...why couldnt the record companies send free cd`s in the mail? that would friggin rawk! Metal Blade records displays in the grocery store! 45 days free of Psycopathic records! If I were the King ding-a-ling, I`d... _________________ --==Warum tut es weh, wenn ich pinkele?==--

I think downloading is a pain in the *Ay Matey, Watch 'Yer Language Or Ye Be Swabbin' The Deck*. But now that I have a cable modem I might do it once in a while, if I really liked the song. I wouldn't expect to pay more than 99 cents.
Guys, if you want to buy CD's at a reasonable price. www.secondspin.com
All used, sometimes new. HALF the price of any record store. I've bought nearly 50 CD's from these guys in the last 8 months and never had a scratched one or a bad one. It's an awsome resource for inexpensive CD's. Don't expect to find the latest releases all the time, but if you want to buy an album you missed a while back, they probably have it. They also have a lot of obscure stuff. check 'em out. |

i agree 100% kant! i never buy cds anymore or even go into record stores because if i do it's a devistationg blow to the wallet. i only buy a cd if i really really really like the band (nirvava led zeppelin iron maiden beatles rufio and a few others) i recently bought rufio 1985 and it was 15 dollars! i have never bought a punk emo gebre album that was over like 8 bucks then i went to the concert about a month later and it was on sale for 7 dollars man thats BS...corporate markups! looks to me that the reason prices are so friggin high is mark ups between the label and the consumer. it;s pure poppycock <---kool word huh! _________________ GreyFox

| With this service you guys can preview entire albums and enter the contest without buying a thing. And these aren't low quality mp3's like you sometimes get on Kazaa. This is liquid audio which has better sound quality than mp3's and is virus free. All I ask is that you guys check it out and tell me what you think. Here's the link http://www.umgdownloads.com/. Thanks! |

| I'm boycotting the RIAA. No cd purchases/pay-for-downloads from me. I only go to local live shows. |

...ahem. Taken directly from the liquid audio site: ' Digital files enable a variety of security and licensing options including territory restrictions, expiration dates, variable pricing and device output options, among other choices.'
No way I'd pay for music I can't listen to anywhere, or will expire at some point in time. I won't rent music, or pay for something I can't listen to in my stereo or car, sorry. |
