Hey, this is my 100th post. Sweet. Cool

Anyway, thanks for considering my advice. Smile Honestly, I can't tell you what to do with your money... it's YOUR money. It's true that getting a new axe is fun and will definitely improve your playing and tone. If you really want one, then go for it.

My only point is that before your musical trip is done, you'll beg, borrow, steal (well hopefully not steal), cajole, loan, give, recieve, buy, sell, break, lose, repair, modify, hustle, trade, swap, upgrade and find yourself playing a dozen or more instruments. So don't feel like you NEED that one perfect axe NOW. If you wanna play around first, it can wait. Also, keep in mind your priorities will change as you get older.... and your relationship with the Almighty Dollar will change, too.

I just think you're going to spend the rest of your natural life saving and worrying about money.... you should spend your youth PLAYING what you have. Emphasis on "playing" Wink To me, a good attitude is more valuable than any one bass.

Having said that, however..... buy it if you're sure you want it. If you know it's what you want and you know you can afford it, there's no reason not to. It's only wasting money if you can't budget or if you're buying it impulsively. Have fun aquiring new gear. Cool But play more than you buy...

The thing is, if you blow your wad on a nice bass then at least you 'should' be able to sell it at a decent price down the road if you wish too. I agree with Gibby on the fact that you will notice a huge difference in a quality bass vs a Squier. I started on a Squier and moved to a Stingray, good lord what a difference!

But like Beo said, your only 13 and priorities will change. When I was 13 I learned to rock on lower quality gear. It is possible.

mau - Almost everyone learns to rock on lower quality gear. You should walk before you run. Or at least think long and hard about running before you do that.

Gibby - Nice pics! Which one is you and which one is Jack? I can't tell... Wink Seriously, that's a nice axe and Jack is the *Golly Gee* man.

Another really unique bass brought to you by Gibson:

One thing about Gibson basses - they seem to stand out.

this dude was one of the best...Felix Pappalardi from Mountain-you know, "Mississippi Queen" & stuff...also the Guitarist Leslie West played with em...He produced most of Cream`s albums, too. check out his beautiful Gibson EB-1...he was also known to play an EB-0 & an EB-3--he was the rumblebass king!
